Weddings
Our first wedding of the 2012 season crossed off a big to do for both Christian and I; shooting a destination wedding. Back in January we flew down to Southern California to be part of Cindy and Maurice’s big day. We arrived a day earlier and enjoyed the warm weather and change of scenery.
The following day, Christian and I parted ways to capture the bride and groom getting ready. I made my way to Maurice’s home in Ocean Beach and Christian met up with Cindy and all the ladies at the Grand Colonial in La Jolla. Once Maurice and his groomsmen were ready to roll they all climbed into his sweet vintage project Ford Fairlane and hit the road. Cindy and the bridal party cruised via limo to the venue and pretty soon we were all ready to rock and roll . The El Cortez hosted the event in the Don Room and what a great setting it was!
We had a lot of fun and hope to shoot more destination weddings in the future!!

We started the 2012 wedding season with a very lovely house wedding. Sam and Joe invited us to document their gathering of close family and friends at a wonderful home in the Berkeley Hills. The ceremony was short and sweet and afterwards we made our way to the couples home in the Diamond District of Oakland. Their home had been transformed into a cozy banquet hall where everyone had a chance to socialize and mingle with one another. Tasha De Serio and her team prepared a delicious meal right in Sam and Joe’s kitchen. It was such a treat to watch the food being prepared on site. We enjoy being apart of small, close knit weddings and love how these events are always so full of meaning and sentiment.

About two weeks ago we had the opportunity to photograph an intimate close friends and family wedding at the Mar Vista Cottages in Anchor Bay, CA. When the phone call came in for this wedding we were both super excited! Christian and his family have been visiting these cottages since he was kid and they hold a special place in his heart. It was the perfect setting for such a small, close knit event. Tom and Renata, the owners of the cottages, did a fantastic job setting up the grounds and preparing all of the right details to make it a beautiful evening to photograph.
Sara and Eric brought this opportunity to us and they were such an easy couple to work with. Together with their family they made us feel right at home and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect Fall wedding.

Cowboy up everybody!
This season has been the season for good old fashion cowboy and cowgirl weddings. Jennifer and Shannon’s event was held at a small family owned winery over in Sunol, right out side of Pleasanton. Lots of close family and friends and no shortage of good times at this event. You could really get the sense that these two family’s were happy to see these kids get hitched. We had a great time shooting and wish both Shannon and Jennifer all the best. Now get along little doggie!

Lorraine and Caleb’s wedding was the small, close friend and family event that we both love. He is from Florida and she is from New York. They both made their way to the West Coast, met in San Francisco, and the rest is history. Since the first time we met the two of them we couldn’t wait to be apart of their event. The ceremony took place in the beautiful Redwood Grove at The U.C . Berkeley Botanical Gardens. Weather could not have been better and the sunlight shining through the trees was quite a thing to see. Following the ceremony, guests proceeded to the Joan Rock Mirov Room for the reception. We are so happy for this light hearted couple and wish them all the best!

Several months back, Shirley and Aaron came to us interested in having us photograph their wedding ceremonies. Yes, plural. This was our first time shooting multiple events for the same couple and we were very excited to be involved. The first ceremony took place in Sea Ranch, CA, a small beach town a few hours north of San Francisco. We met Shirley and Aaron, along with a few of their closest family members, at the very unique Sea Ranch Chapel. The ceremony was brief but there was no shortage of heart felt wishes and happiness. After the vows were exchanged we all met up at a home for food, conversation, and mingling.
Two days later, we met Shirley and Aaron at their home in downtown Petaluma and took a short walk to the Petaluma Women’s Club for their official ceremony in front of all their friends and family. The reception was potluck style and everyone brought a yummy dish to share. Folks were also treated to an hour of live music by some of the couples musical colleagues.
Both of these days had so many things that made them great, but for us the highlights were definitely the great music, the tree planting ceremony, the unique Sea Ranch Chapel, and all of the opportunities to shoot this great couple on their own.

We recently photographed Phil and Carina’s wedding at the Terrace Room at The Lake Merritt Hotel in Oakland. The venue was awesome and we wanted to put together a quick sneak peek. We love to travel to new places and document weddings from here to there but Oakland will always be home. It was so great being apart of Phil and Carina’s event and we’ll make sure to bring to light the full monty in a few weeks. Thanks for staying tuned!

Erica and Jim’s wedding was light, casual, friendly, and super fun! Their ceremony took place at the U.C. Botanical Gardens in the shade of the Mather Redwood Grove. Close family and friends were in attendance for the saying of vows and to cheer on the newlyweds as they began their lives together. After a short and sweet ceremony the two of us split up. Christian hopped in the car and booked over the to reception site to grab detail photos before the guests arrived. Meanwhile, I accompanied the couple across the street to the Japanese Gardens to take some photos of just the two of them.
The super cute and well thought out reception took place in Tilden Park at the Laurel Grove. Under the shade of large trees and brightly colored parasols, folks enjoyed the beautiful afternoon. A live band, food, libations, and games made the afternoon pleasureable and the time just slipped on by. Too fast for our taste!
We had a great time and love light hearted events like this!

Hey Folks,
Nestled in the Santa Cruz mountains is a sweet destination called Radonich Ranch. This old fruit packing facility was chosen by Marcy and Kathy for their wedding last month. We arrived early to get a lay of the land and quickly realized that we wouldn’t be putting our cameras down. There was no shortage of awesome backgrounds and rustic details and the coordinator Marky Carr and her team from Vignette Events did a bang up job making the whole place shine. A sunny day and plenty of smiling guests made for a truly heart warming event. Furry four legged friends were all around and Odetta, Kathy’s service dog, was ever present. These dogs added a special something to the wedding and we could not have imagined the day with out them. So many things made this event stand out and we are grateful to have had the chance to document and participate in Marcy and Kathy’s day.

Howdy!
Shooting a wedding on a rainy day was bound to happen sooner than later. Last month we had the opportunity to photograph Wade and Michele’s wedding in Angels Camp, CA. The ceremony and reception took place at the lovely home of Wade’s parents who own and operate a small olive orchard. When we first glanced at the weather forecast we were a little concerned, after all, nobody wants a rainy wedding day. Concern turned to excitement as the idea of achieving something new and totally different presented itself. Thanks to a bunch of umbrellas, a HUGE 80×30 foot tent, several space heaters, and an unshakable positive attitude those shots came together and everybody had a rip roaring time.
