A while back the folks over at Minted gave us a shout about being a photographer affiliate.  We looked around their shop and asked for some sample cards and have to say we are pretty impressed with the product line.  The designs are very contemporary and fresh feeling and with so many choices it was a bit difficult to get our favorites set up.  We have a little “shop” over at the site to help our clients along with some ideas.  Check us out here http://enb.minted.com

Greetings,

This great couple just had us do a little portrait session to try and capture some fall action before they leave the bay area and relocate to Boulder Co. These are the formal couple portraits they had not been able to capture at their wedding just a little while back. We met Matt and Jaimee in Moraga at the Commons. This is a large park with all kinds of sweet spots to capture the fall feel. Also, just across the road from the park is a super sweet almond orchard, bonus! These guys were very comfortable in front of the camera and did a tear up job. We wish them all the best in their future together in lovely Colorado.

Hey folks,

About a month ago Chris and I featured a daily deal on the very popular Groupon.  Our deal was a huge success and sessions are starting to stack up.  This has given us an opportunity to reach out to new clients and we’re excited to meet all of the new folks who took advantage of the deal.  Below is a selection of photos compiled from the many sessions we already have under our belts.

You can follow us on Facebook and catch sneak peaks as we move through more Groupon sessions.  You can find us on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/enbphotos.

Way back in September of 2009 I was invited to come and shoot a two day event in San Francisco. The Designers Accord Global Summit on Sustainability & Education was a two day affair that drew together designers, educators, and a variety of other professionals from around the world to discuss the many problems with creating sustainable design in the future. I was very excited to be a part of documenting this event for prosperity. You can take a peek at how some of the photos were used as well as read up on what the event was really about here on the Core 77 web site .  What follow are a selection of the images captured at this inspirational event.

Chris and I had an opportunity to delve into another facet of the wedding area a couple of weeks back.  The sister of a bride to be hired us to come out and document a shower she was throwing.  The event was very well put together and there were details a plenty.  The event had a school theme going and Laurel, the hostess did a bang up job.  All the guests had a great time wishing the soon to be bride, Annie all the best in her new life.  Chris and I were happy to have been included and hope that showers will become something we are able to photograph more as we are working the coming wedding seasons.

Hey folks,

As with anything in life it’s easy to find yourself in a rut, a dry spell, or a rough patch.  As working photographers, Christian and I tend to get pretty busy, especially during wedding season.  However, there are times when things get slow and I suddenly notice that I haven’t picked up a camera for days.  After awhile of not taking photos it starts to feel like dust is collecting and that’s never a good thing.  Recently, Christian and I decided to make an effort to take a photo a day.   Practice makes perfect and keeping a camera nearby has helped us to stay fresh and limber.  Here are some of our recent daily shots.

Hey folks,

Right before all this rain came crashing in Chris and I along with my family took a little trip to Point Montara.  We stayed at the Point Montara Lighthouse Hostel and spent a few days hiking and having fun at the beach.  The hostel experience was a good one and we’re looking forward to visiting some others over the Summer.  If you’re thinking about traveling this Summer hostels are a great lodging alternative to consider.  They’re affordable, community oriented, and environmentally friendly.

Here are a few images of the trip.  Enjoy.

As always Chris and I are out trying new things and continually working on doing what we do better.  Recently, Chris was at the house and I had made some twice baked potatoes (mmmm twice baked potatoes).  I called him in to grab the camera and take some shots of the grub.  He took the lens off the camera and began to shoot.  “Whoa, free lensing huh?” I asked.  “Yeah, I’ve been trying it out lately.” he said.

Today we were at the park with the kids and I decided to give it a whirl.  It was fun and exciting to see something new but also way tricky and man…my wrist is killing me from holding that camera and dipping and spinning the lens all over to get any kind of result.

For those of you unfamiliar with “free lensing”, it’s a focal effect achieved by removing the lens and holding it slightly at an angle just in front of the camera.  This gives the photo a pretty extreme blur that mimics tilt-shift lenses.  You can watch a cool tilt-shift video that we posted the other day on our Facebook page.  For additional info on freelensing, check out Photojojo.

Anyways, here’s a small assortment of images from today..

Hey there,

Tonight we headed out to hone our strobe skills and get familiar with some of our new lights.  On the majority of our shoots, Christian and I tend to work with available light.  Natural light always tends to yield much more desirable results without the hassles of setting up more gear.  However, there is something to be said about the use of artificial light and the extra pop it can add to the finished product.

This evening we hopped in the car and headed out to the old naval base on Alameda.  Below are some of the photos we snagged.

Cheers,

Chris

Hey folks,

We recently stumbled upon a video regarding a topic that Chris and I are always discussing as we continue to grow as photographers.

Chris and I both enjoy working with people and the social aspect of documenting events. The idea of capturing emotion and telling a story through an image is something that drew us to photography in the first place. Every photographer out there has particular strengths as well as areas to improve upon. Being good with people makes this one of our stronger areas and allows us to create connections and capture special moments. As with anything in life there is always room to grow and learn along the way. As e&b moves into a new wedding season both Chris and I will continue to make this particular concept our main focus.

We feel the images that follow are a good representation of how we have managed to capture these moments at past events.
